POSCA paint markers have a long history of being a preferred tool for artists and creative hobbyists. POSCA's popularity is due to the organic growth within the art community through word of mouth from artists. The brand assets were updated to reflect the artists who have helped POSCA become a household name within the art world.
New textures were created in different colors, primarily for use as backgrounds. This upgrade to POSCA's brand identity replaced the solid black background with a textured look reminiscent of oil and paint mixing together during the marker's 'priming' phase before use.
The new packaging design incorporates a full art image, better utilizing the front space to showcase art pieces created with POSCA, while moving the use case images to the back. This results in a dynamic design system that engages multiple sides of the packaging.
Brush textures were introduced as design elements to further align POSCA with the street art direction and style. The new packaging design allows the brand to shift toward sustainable packaging.
'Make Your Mark' was created to build brand correlation with POSCA's writing counterpart, uni, and its 'Start Your Story' campaign. In addition to the brand correlation between POSCA and uni, 'Make Your Mark' is a call to action that encourages artists of every skill level to pick up a POSCA marker and create.
